Maryland’s Evolving Regulatory Climate: What Every Contractor Needs to Know

August 27 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Free

FREE for ABC Members (Advance registration required; no walk-ins.)

Limit two attendees per company to ensure an interactive discussion and ample Q&A time.

Recent changes in Maryland’s regulatory environment have increased the importance of understanding prevailing wage and apprenticeship compliance requirements. Contractors are facing greater scrutiny, and even minor compliance issues can result in significant penalties.

Join representatives from the Maryland Department of Labor and ABC Greater Baltimore on Thursday, August 27, for a practical, informative seminar designed to help employers understand current requirements, avoid common compliance pitfalls, and confidently navigate today’s regulatory landscape.

Session One (2:00–3:30 p.m.)
Maryland’s Evolving Regulatory Climate: What Every Contractor Needs to Know

This information session is about much more than gaining a general understanding of how to abide by Maryland’s prevailing wage laws and employee classification. We have to limit attendance to two from each company, but we strongly recommend that in addition to the person in your office whose responsibilities include regulatory compliance, you have a senior member of your management team attend as well. The stakes of failing to understand the direction that Maryland is making are high. We want you to be well prepared and equipped so you have confidence you can successfully navigate the laws and regulations that govern construction labor in our state.

Recommended attendees: Company owners, executives, project managers, HR professionals, payroll staff, and anyone responsible for prevailing wage or regulatory compliance.

Session Two (3:45–4:45 p.m.) (Apprenticeship Employers Only)

Apprenticeship Employer Orientation (for new and seasoned employers alike)

The State of Maryland has implemented several changes related to apprenticeship licensing, documentation, and employer responsibilities.  Whoever oversees apprenticeship matters at your company should attend. We will provide important updates, answer questions, and share information that will help make the apprenticeship process easier and more successful for both employers and apprentices.

Recommended attendees: Individuals responsible for managing or overseeing your company’s apprenticeship program.
