This Maryland State Plumbing Board Approved ASSE instructor-led course is designed for plumbing professionals to gain certification as a Backflow Prevention Tester. The course meets the Maryland State Board of Plumbing’s requirements for the Journey/Master Plumber examination. It is also essential for those seeking to recertify as a Backflow/Cross Connection Tester.

- Causes and Principles of Backflow 💧
- Backflow Prevention Assembly: Proper application and operation 🏗️
- Field Testing Procedures for all backflow prevention assemblies ✅
- Hands-on Practice in a wet lab setting for real-world application 🌊
📋 Requirements:
- Prerequisite: Must hold a valid Apprentice, Journeyman, or Master Maryland State Plumbing License.
- Documentation: Email a copy of your license to Bonnie Mattox before registration can be processed 📧.
🔄 Recertification:
- For Certified Testers: If you hold a backflow certification, you’ll need to recertify every 3 years.
- Recertification Focus:
- Updates and new developments in Cross Connection Control
- Reviewing backflow prevention procedures and field testing protocols
- Use of differential gauges and recommended gauges 📏
- Practice of PVB, DCVA, and RP test procedures 🧰
📝 Certification:
- Passing grade on the final written exam and hands-on performance will result in certification 🏅.
- Certification valid for 3 years 📆.
📚 Textbooks Provided:
Textbooks for use during the class will be supplied to all students 📚.
