Elevated Work Platform Training

February 18, 2021 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

$75.00 – $150.00

Scissor lifts are essential in construction but can be very dangerous. All persons operating a lift or supervising lift operations must be trained in accordance with ANSI 92.

Scissor lift training under the updated 2019 ANSI A92 require companies to train workers under the following guidelines:

Within ANSI A92 there are three sub standards.

  • The A92.20, covering design.
  • The A92.22, covering safe use.
  • The A92.24, covering training. Notably, manufacturers must address design changes that impact MEWP wind ratings, chassis angle and load capacity.

Under these new standards, MEWPs are divided into groups:

  • Group A for platforms that move vertically but stay inside the tipping line.
  • Group B for all other MEWPs – typically, boom-type equipment where the platform extends past the tipping line.

Within each of these groups, machines are separated into types:

  • Type 1 for those that travel only in the stowed position.
  • Type 2 for those that can travel while elevated but controlled from the chassis.
  • Type 3 for those that can travel while elevated but controlled from the work platform.

All companies that operate lifts must adhere to the updated training requirements which includes:

Anyone who supervises MEWP operators have to be trained and possess in-depth knowledge of the equipment and hazards.

Equipment Owners and Rental Companies:

  • Must update equipment manuals.
  • Provide Familiarization Training.

Operators must:

  • Complete theory (classroom) training.
  • Complete Hands on Practice.
  • Be Evaluated by a Competent Trainer.

Owners and operators must meet all new training requirements, participate in extensive planning to consider machine choice and application, and perform site risk assessments for all MEWP operations and training procedures. ABC is equipped to offer every aspect of this training. Sign up now!

This course includes both hands-on training using onsite equipment as well as in-classroom instruction.
