Advanced Blueprint Reading – Structural (2 Day Course)

This class will be held over the course of two (2) days from 5 to 8 pm.  Classes will meet Monday, Dec. 12 and Tuesday, Dec. 13.

The advanced Structural class will be a continuation of the Introductory class and will take a focused and deep dive into the structural drawings and related technical specifications. Focus of this class will be to review Concrete and Structural Steel System as the primary building structure.  Class will start out with reviewing a geotechnical report and how the site conditions determine foundation and sub foundation systems.  Different sub-foundation and foundation systems will be reviewed.  Basic symbol identification will be reviewed.  Class will include reading the different schedules (Beam Schedules, Column Schedules, etc) and how to relate them to the drawings.  Class will take a detailed look at foundation plans, framing plans, floor plans, etc. and how to compare to other disciplines to coordinate and identify conflicts.  Structural steel shapes and connections will be reviewed.  Class will also include some basic quantity take off and measuring as a basis for fundamental estimating.
